The Pharmacy Partnership Program

The Pharmacy Partnership for Long-term Care Program is a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) program that partners with CVS and Walgreens pharmacies to provide on-site no-cost COVID-19 vaccination of residents in Adult Senior Care (ASC) facilities. This program provides end-to-end management of the COVID-19 vaccination process, including cold chain management, on-site vaccinations, and fulfillment of reporting requirements, to facilitate safe and effective vaccination, easing the burden on local health departments and facilities. Facility staff who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine can also be vaccinated under this program.

Enrollment of ASC facilities:

In order to make this resource available, the Community Care Licensing Division all ASC facilities who have not yet taken advantage of this opportunity. Please note, however, that this is not mandatory and facilities who care to do so may opt out of this program. At this time, there is no further action on your part unless you wish to opt out of this Program.

Opting Out:

For those facilities who wish to opt out of this program, the pharmacy will contact you regarding the vaccination process. Please indicate to them at that time that your facility is opting out of the service and you plan to work with your local health department for COVID-19 vaccine planning.

Background:

Immunization with a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine is a critical component to reducing COVID-19 related illness, hospitalizations, and deaths. Early in theCOVID-19 vaccination program, there may be a limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines and vaccination efforts may focus on those critical to the response, providing direct care, and those at highest risk for developing severe illness from COVID-19. This includes long-term care facility residents such as ASC facility residents and staff.
