Insider's Guide to Los Angeles Senior Living: Beverly Hills & Beverly Hills Adjacent
Beverly Hills, one of the priciest and most exclusive neighborhoods in Los Angeles is also home to some of the most expensive and luxurious senior living communities in the area. While only a few assisted living properties actually reside in the Beverly Hills 90210 and 90211 zip codes, the area adjacent to Beverly Hills in the Mid-Wilshire area provides some of the best retirement communities in the Los Angeles area. Here is a list of the five most notable from LA Senior Living Expert, Sarah Ordover, Owner of Assisted Living Locators LA:
220 N Clark Dr
Beverly Hills, CA 90211
Sarah says: “The Watermark at Beverly Hills operates much like a small boutique hotel on a convenient tree-lined residential street in the flats of Beverly Hills. The clientele is affluent and sophisticated, many having lived nearby before retiring to the Watermark or having relocated from places like NYC to be closer to children in the area."

The community offers studios and one-bedroom units starting at $8,000 plus care. The Watermark at Beverly Hills offers the full complement of assisted living services including meals, personal care, medication management, housekeeping, laundry, transportation, and of course activities. Personal care services such as assistance with dressing, ambulation, grooming and incontinence is additional.

What makes The Watermark notable is Watermark University, an in-house adult learning program open to the surrounding community as well as their own residents.
201 N Crescent Dr
Beverly Hills, CA 90210
Sarah says: “Location! Location! Location! This Sunrise probably has one of the best locations in Los Angeles for people seeking an urban experience. Located on Crescent Drive in 90210, Sunrise Beverly Hills is next door to a Whole Foods and around the corner from Rodeo Drive and many famous restaurants. The property has a variety of floor plans including shared suites, studios and large one- bedroom apartments."
Cost of Living at Sunrise of Beverly Hills
Prices start at $6,000/month plus care for a shared suite of rooms. Pricing is broken into three tiers. There is the base rent which includes meals, housekeeping, emergency call response, daily activities and transportation; a personal care service charge with four different levels; and medication management pricing.
Amenities at Sunrise of Beverly Hills
Sunrise of Beverly Hills offers both assisted living and memory care services, as well as short-term respite care stays. Memory care is in a separate wing called the Reminiscence Neighborhood. I particularly like the outdoor wrap around patio overlooking the sidewalk. It’s a welcoming place to sit and people watch while chatting with your new friends.
8757 Burton Way
Los Angeles, CA 90048
Sarah says: “Beverly Hills Carmel is two buildings, one on the North side of Burton Way and one on the South, both exuding old world European charm. One of the only Kosher assisted living communities in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills Carmel caters to a Jewish clientele looking for Beverly Hills convenience at an affordable price. Both observant and non-observant Jewish residents appreciate the culturally Jewish feel of Beverly Hills Carmel, particularly their afternoon tea."
Cost of Living at Beverly Hills Carmel
Carmel’s studios and one-bedroom units are larger than what you will find at some of their competitors. Prices start at $4,000/month plus care. Personal care is provided on an "a la carte" menu of services which includes escorting, laundry and room service.
Amenities at Beverly Hills Carmel
Beverly Hills Carmel offers assisted living and short-term respite care at both of their buildings. Someone looking for an action-packed schedule of activities may not be happy at Beverly Hills Carmel. But, if your loved on wants a slower, more elegant type of lifestyle within a Jewish setting, then Carmel may be a good choice.
330 N Hayworth Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90048
Sarah says: “Silverado is one of the nation’s leading assisted living companies specializing in providing a residential setting for adults struggling with memory decline including Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. The Beverly Place location is an all-memory care building with three different floors, each floor catering to a specific stage in dementia progression from the early stage of memory loss through the later stages of Alzheimer’s Disease. The top floor of Silverado is called “The Loft” and is geared towards active older adults who are still mobile and independent but have early to mid-stage memory loss. The first floor caters to adults in the mid-stages of dementia. The second floor is for the later stages of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia when an individual needs help with all their daily functions from walking and dressing, to eating and toileting."

Sarah says: “If you can’t quite manage Beverly Hills prices, CityView on La Brea Avenue is an excellent option. Just a few miles east of Beverly Hills near LACMA and The Grove, CityView has been voted best value upscale independent and assisted living. Locally owned, the staff and management can be more responsive and helpful than at the corporately owned places. One of those benefits is a customized schedule of activities designed around each individual resident's interests and skills.”
Cost of Living at CityView
With prices starting at $4500/month plus care, CityView caters to active seniors looking to maintain their independence but needing a bit of extra care. Studios and one-bedroom units are available. Care is additional and based on level of required assistance.
