Can We Tour Yet?

The initial wave of COVID outbreaks that we saw in long term-care during the 2nd quarter of 2020 has subsided. It's been a learning curve for the entire assisted living industry and the experience has resulted in standardized protocols to keep residents safe. As of October 4, 2020, only three assisted living or memory care communities that we work with in the Los Angeles area reported an active COVID case according to the Dept. of Public Health. You can see the full report here Dept. of Public Health Locations and Demographics.

A few communities have resumed in-person tours. Most are providing"patio tours." With patio tours, the discovery portion of the visit takes place outside in the community's green area or "patio."Depending on the lay-out of the building, a prospective resident family is thenable to enter the building to see available suites and get a quick peek about the property. Where that is not feasible, the community ambassador walks the building using Facetime and answers questions as he/she goes. In either case, when prospective residents are allowed into the building, strict measures for screening and safety are enforced.
